This Exploited Land of Iron is our HLF Landscape Partnership Scheme focused on the ‘blazing, booming, enterprising’* ironstone industry in and around the North York Moors in the 19th century, and its surviving legacy.
The Scheme was officially launched in March 2017 and since then we’ve been round and about conserving, consolidating, excavating, exploring, investigating, interpreting, imagining, monitoring, managing, recording, researching, surveying, supporting, and talking a lot about, the landscape and its cultural and natural heritage.
There is a lot more to come over the next three and a half years…
To get involved or just to find out more, please visit our website pages, look out for our hashtag #landofiron, or email us directly.

Rosedale East is looking rather lovely this week with heather out in places.
